The first requirement is CLEAN AIR – Humans must breathe! Obviously lol. Oxygen is a requirement for cellular function, and three minutes or so is the amount of time an average person can go without air before having complications. So, how do we gain access to clean air? Either live in a natural area with little pollution OR get a good air filter for your home/work environment. Air quality varies depending on where a person lives. For instance, there may be higher levels of carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, etc… in heavily populated areas (7). Regardless, air pollution can exacerbate conditions such as asthma and lead to health problems such as chemical sensitivities and general oxidative stress on the body, contributing to abnormal cellular growth (i.e. cancer) (8). So, simply breathe good, clean air.
